En la profesi\u00f3n de interpretaci\u00f3n simult\u00e1nea de conferencias, siempre ha existido una clara preferencia a favor del trabajo presencial frente a la interpretaci\u00f3n remota. Desde que la profesi\u00f3n se formaliz\u00f3 por primera vez en Nuremberg, la evidencia demuestra que los int\u00e9rpretes pierden capacidad cognitiva para realizar otras tareas mientras escuchan desde un idioma de origen, interpretan a un idioma de destino, ponen esa interpretaci\u00f3n en palabras habladas en otra cultura e idioma sin perder el contexto, al tiempo que contin\u00faan escuchando a los oradores por encima de su propia voz. Para hacer posible una entrega elegante en la interpretaci\u00f3n y ayudar a reducir el desgaste que supone para el cerebro humano unos niveles de concentraci\u00f3n tan profundos y constantes, durante d\u00e9cadas se han desarrollado y mejorado normas de interpretaci\u00f3n simult\u00e1nea. These include working conditions such as work shift duration, lighting, workplace oxygen levels, sound volume and quality with no interruptions, isolation inside a professional booth, the possibility to be in the conference room with visual access to speakers and their body language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) is a mode of Simultaneous interpretation whereby the interpreter is in a location other than the speakers and audience. It has existed since the early 70s upon the arrival of non-English speaking migrants to Australia, and in the United States with the creation of a Law Enforcement remote interpretation taskforce that would resolve language barriers in distant police headquarters. Many other organizations and companies have since then developed platforms claiming remote simultaneous interpretation capabilities; however, because of all the circumstances explained above at the beginning of this article, RSI technology was never good and reliable enough to guarantee simultaneous conference interpretation for large worldwide venues, meetings, negotiations and conventions where effective communication is crucial and any possibility of poor language interpretation is not an option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Principales desventajas de la Interpretaci\u00f3n Simultanea Remota:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  6. Con la interpretaci\u00f3n a distancia siempre existe el riesgo de que un problema t\u00e9cnico interrumpa la conferencia o reuni\u00f3n despu\u00e9s de haber gastado cientos de miles de d\u00f3lares en organizarla, como una conexi\u00f3n a Internet poco fiable, una plataforma virtual no dise\u00f1ada para int\u00e9rpretes, la falta de contacto verbal con los t\u00e9cnicos y organizadores para resolver problemas, la incapacidad de realizar interpretaci\u00f3n consecutiva si falla el sistema, la falta de aislamiento de los oradores, que reduce a\u00fan m\u00e1s la calidad del sonido, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Antes de la pandemia de COVID-19, los int\u00e9rpretes profesionales, experimentados, con un estatus y una reputaci\u00f3n internacionales, se refer\u00edan incluso a los int\u00e9rpretes que aceptaban el trabajo a distancia como \u00abformas inferiores de vida\u00bb.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
